About the Role

Our organization is seeking an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide occupational therapy services to children and their families in an outpatient setting, in daycares/preschools/schools, in the client's home, and in the community. We have recently started utilizing equine movement in our services so nature based services are an option as well. This position requires a deep understanding of pediatric development and the ability to create individualized treatment plans that are tailored to the specific needs of each patient. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping children reach their full potential and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Special interest in hippotherapy/use of equine movement is a plus!!

Key Responsibilities:
-Assess and evaluate children with developmental, physical, and sensory processing challenges.
-Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve fine motor skills, coordination, self-care, and sensory integration.
-Provide therapy to help children enhance their ability to perform daily activities, such as dressing, eating, writing, and playing.
-Utilize therapeutic exercises, play-based interventions, and adaptive equipment to support skill development.
-Educate and collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care.
-Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
-Recommend adaptive equipment, modifications, and strategies to enhance a child’s participation in daily routines.
-Stay updated on the latest research, tools, and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Licensure
  • State licensure or certification to practice as an occupational therapist.

  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is often required.

Experience
  • Clinical experience in pediatric settings, such as hospitals, clinics, or schools.

  • Internships or fieldwork specifically focused on pediatric populations.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of child development and pediatric conditions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children and their families.

  • Ability to develop individualized therapy plans based on assessments.

  • Skills in using therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment.

Certifications
  • Specialized certifications in pediatrics (e.g., Pediatric Occupational Therapy Certification) may be beneficial.

  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Continuing Education
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with pediatric occupational therapy practices and research.
